Historical cuts

As Aristotle teaches, the matter is for the form, and the form is for the end. For this reason, Fiducia Tantum believes the value of a liturgical vestment lies not only in the materials used, but also in the quality and wearability of the cut.

Indeed, the matter of the shape to be given to a vestment should question the tailor just as much as that of his materials. In this regard, the Roman rite exhibits a complex history, made up of slow evolutions and as many deviations.

The search for the iconic models of an era, and in particular the most authentic Roman cuts, is one of the main activities of Fiducia Tantum.

Careful investigation has led us to produce patterns of ancient vestments preserved in the sacristies of Roman basilicas.
